When I was younger, I had a neighbor who was diagnosed with Mental Retardation and had a very difficult family life. I would babysit his brothers and sisters sometimes and felt obligated to try and make him as comfortable as possible. I realized that I wanted to help this boy and others like him. Special education seemed like the right choice for my career and I love working with these kids. I like technology most days, but I hate working with technology that is "required" and I most likely will not use it because I think it is more obnoxious and time consuming than helpful.
